WillFlex Chair™

Millions of people struggle with lower back pain caused from different injuries or disorders such as sciatica, arthritis, and disc injuries. Sciatica causes pain to radiate along the sciatic nerve, that runs down from the lower back, to one or both legs. Untreated lower back pain can cause people to be in constant pain, have a limited range of motion, be unable to work, and miss out on important life moments. People try many methods to relieve back pain such as visiting a chiropractor, physical therapist, performing stretches, using heating devices, icing the area, wearing back braces, taking steroid injections, or getting surgery.

The WillFlex Chair™ seeks to provide a solution to relieve lower back pain with a proven high success rate for patients. The chair incorporates all seven of the following functions during the treatment protocol including: spinal traction, spinal flexion, spinal extension, active and resistive range of motion, strength, flexibility, and endurance. This allows the patient to perform a variety of exercises and stretches while working multiple muscles simultaneously with the assistance of a practitioner. Practitioners love this device due to it being easy to operate and help their patients along with it being recognized and reimbursed by many medical insurance companies. PRODUCT DETAILS

The WillFlex Chair™ is classified by the FDA as class 1 medical device that is characterized as a powered exercise device. It is a seven-combination exercise table-chair device designed to treat acute and chronic lower back pain from injuries and disorders. Some of the conditions this device can be used for are failed back surgery, stenosis, hypomobility, facet syndrome, sciatica, advanced osteoarthritis, spinal root impingement, and herniated and bulging discs. The seven therapeutic functions the device performs simultaneously during the treatment protocol are: spinal traction, spinal flexion, spinal extension, active and resistive range of motion, strength, flexibility, and endurance. It is designed to be utilized by qualified, licensed practitioners such as chiropractors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and rehab specialists. It operates with a remote control to raise and lower the lower torso through varying degrees of incline to provide stretching, flexibility, and range of motion. It maneuvers the patient into a non-weight bearing position and eliminates any loading of the discs, facets, and vertebral column.

The WillFlex Chair™ can be used as a stand-alone therapy or in conjunction with other therapy modalities. This device is best operated with the Willflex Exercise Chair Protocol. This protocol provides instructions to practitioners on how to best screen patients and operate the device to treat their patient depending on what kind of lower back condition they are experiencing. The device allows patients to perform a variety of exercises and stretches to help treat their lower back pain depending on their particular condition. Hundreds of patients have seen the positive results this device has for treating their  lower back pain. The majority of patients begin to see a 50% reduction of pain and symptoms within 3-4 weeks and the maximum therapeutic benefit around 8-12 weeks.

Along with its patented design, the WillFlex Chair™ is recognized and reimbursed by many medical insurance companies. The CPT codes used for reimbursement are 97110 (Therapeutic Exercises) or 97012 (Traction), with a preference for the 97110 code for higher reimbursement.  A typical rate to charge would be $75-$150 for an 8-to-23-minute treatment. This rate makes it accessible to patients to use the device to treat their lower back pain whether they use their medical insurance or cash to pay the fee for the treatment received.

The WillFlex Chair™ is easy to use for patients and practitioners. Patients simply lay down in the chair, place their arms on the arm rests, and their feet on the foot rest. The chair does the rest of the work for them when it comes to moving and stretching them in a non-invasive way with minimal to no pain. The practitioner places the patient in the chair and adjusts them to the position needed to perform the specified exercise or stretch. Once the patient is positioned, the practitioner uses a remote to adjust the chair’s position. This includes being able to operate it in a preset systematic set of movements to move the patient’s body to perform the stretch and exercises. Once the patient is positioned and the device is turned on, the practitioner can perform other tasks in the room instead of having to continuously monitor or work on the patient.

The WillFlex Chair™ is made from high quality and durable materials to ensure it lasts a long time with constant patient use. It is comfortable for patients to use by having a cushioned surface all around the device. The upholstered fabric is very easy for practitioners to clean between patients ensuring a sanitary procedure. The device can accommodate patients of every body size including patients weighing 500 lbs. It has an adjustable foot rest to accommodate varying patient heights that can easily be adjusted by the practitioner moving and securing it in the different rungs. It also has adjustable arm rests that can be moved to make sure the patient is comfortable and facilitate traction in their lower back when using the device. Along with ensuring the patient’s comfort, the foot and arm rests can be adjusted to change how intense of a stretch to give the patient during the treatment.

The WillFlex Chair™ is overall an ideal option for helping treat lower back pain. This can be attested to by a peer-reviewed published study found in the Journal of Chiropractic  Humanities  2001. There are several professionals in the field, including chiropractors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and medical doctors, that endorse this product along with hundreds of individual case histories of patients proven to find relief from their lower back pain. Functioning products are being regularly used at Heritage Chiropractic and Marvin’s Midtown Chiropractic Clinic along with several other chiropractic clinics in the Kansas City metro area. Both clinics continue to see positive results in their patients who utilize this treatment.
