TERDLE®

This prospectus will introduce TERDLE®, a newly patented technology available for licensing. Each year, over 500,000 babies are born prematurely in the United States. This means approximately 1 out of 8 infants are premature and may need extra care, such as being admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). These tiny fighters are thrust into an unfamiliar, high-tech environment, separated from the comforting presence of their parents and the world they were meant to know. These new parents experience overwhelming fear, guilt, and uncertainty, and they are often desperately seeking ways to connect with and soothe their fragile premature infants. Research confirms that a parent’s voice is one of the most powerful tools for promoting neurological development and emotional well-being in premature babies, yet the sterile, isolating NICU often deprives them of the auditory and visual stimuli they so critically need.

Enter TERDLE®, a lovingly designed board book with integrated electronic sound modules and vivid synthetic-paper illustrations, created specifically to bridge the gap between parent and premature infant during their NICU journey. TERDLE® stands for Therapeutic Emotional Resource Developing a Loving Environment. This product tells the story of Tango, a sea turtle born early, who gains strength day by day. This original narrative mirrors the real-life triumphs of NICU babies, bringing their story to life. Featuring developmental-milestone mirrors, high-contrast geometric patterns, and guardian-recordable voice capability, this product allows parents to record and replay their own voices, heartbeat, lullabies and soothing ocean waves. TERDLE® not only comforts and stimulates infants, but it becomes a treasured keepsake for families long after discharge.

PRODUCT DETAILS

TERDLE® improves the NICU experience for both parents and premature infants by providing meaningful bonding opportunities through audio and visual stimulation. The multi-page, synthetic-paper book is punctuated with original high-contrast art and a mirror to engage developing vision and self-recognition milestones. An onboard electronics module offers 14 individual text-page recording slots, with each of them being re-recordable, so parents can personalize each page with comforting words. Pre-loaded loops of sounds including 10 seconds of ocean waves, 15 seconds of a heartbeat, and 30 seconds of an original lullaby further soothe infants when parents cannot be at the bedside.

Manufactured with medical-grade materials, TERDLE® withstands the oxygen-rich, humid NICU environment. It is also easy to clean making it suitable for strict infection-control standards that are present in NICUs, ensuring the health and safety of the premature infants. Its straightforward design requires no technical expertise, meaning nurses or parents simply press the playback button for automatic looping of selected sounds. The extended battery life supports continuous use throughout the infant’s stay, and the lightweight, portable form ensures easy transport between home and hospital, fostering uninterrupted connection. This product is also great for manufacturers with it being affordable and straightforward to produce in bulk.

The heart of TERDLE® is its original narrative. Tango’s journey from premature hatchling to strong swimmer parallels the experiences of NICU infants and their families. Written in relatable terms and accompanied by high-contrast, developmentally appropriate art, the story demystifies the NICU environment and empowers parents with knowledge. As they read, parents gain context for procedures and milestones, reducing stress and fostering confidence in caring for their child. This story can easily be translated into other languages, making it accessible to families whose primary language is not English.

Instructions on how to use TERDLE®:

  1. Distribute: Upon NICU admission, healthcare staff provide TERDLE® to the premature infant’s parents.
  2. Read & Record: Parents read the story on their own, then record their voice on each of the 14 text pages using the built-in microphone. Re-recording is available at any time to refine messages of love and encouragement.
  3. Playback & Bond: Return the product to the bedside of the premature infant. In unassisted playback mode, nurses or parents can play recorded messages, heartbeat, lullaby or ocean sounds to soothe and stimulate the infant. Visual elements, including a mirror, patterns, and art, engage the baby’s developing sight.
  4. Keepsake: Upon NICU graduation, TERDLE® is gifted to the family as a lasting memento of resilience, bonding, and hope.

By delivering sensory stimulation, educational context, and emotional connection, TERDLE® transforms the NICU experience. It is the perfect product to ease parental stress, promote infant development, and create a tangible link between families and their tiniest heroes.
