PRODUCT FEATURES & BENEFITS

Special features

One of the many chores that plague a homeowner is the raking and subsequent removal of yard waste. This often back-breaking work may be necessitated by lawn clippings after mowing one’s lawn or the collection and removal of fallen leaves in the autumn. Regardless of the type of lawn waste, removal of the yard waste is a chore most homeowners have come to dread. The Waste Retriever™ can assist homeowners with this task.

Part of the reason the removal of yard waste is so difficult is due to the location of the waste being on the ground thereby requiring the homeowner to engage in repetitious and fatiguing acts of bending over and standing up coupled with the difficulty in keeping whatever waste receptacle bag the homeowner is using to dispose of the yard waste in an open configuration. The Waste Retriever™ has an extended arm to aid in retrieving waste from the ground and hard-to-reach crevices. The edge of the Waste Retriever™ that rests on the ground is flat, which gives the hoops a “D” shape. This is to prevent the bags from ripping and to make it easier to store.

Some of the special features of Waste Retriever™ include:

  • Makes yard clean-up easy and fast
  • No need to bend over
  • Keeps hands clean
  • Inexpensive to manufacture
  • Waste bag holding space
  • Rake attachment
  • Extended pole for long reach
  • Made of plastic
  • Stainless steel hoops
  • Easy to store

PRODUCT DETAILS

Waste Retriever™ is simple to build. The handle is a plastic pole, which can be standard or extended sizes. Two stainless steel hoops are held together with a plastic hinge and clip, and a waste bag can be placed between the hoops to collect yard waste without the user needing to bend over. The hoops can also be made from a composite material for lighter weight, but the prototype was made with stainless steel. The rings are designed to hold the largest trash bags. The Waste Retriever™ also has threads on the handle for a rake attachment, which will aid users in collecting yard waste quicker.

The Waste Retriever™ has a quick-release button on the larger hoop to easily install and change out trash bags. There is a cushion button located in the center of the pole to easily detach when using the rake attachment. The Waste Retriever™ can be built for commercial use or lighter for at-home use.

To store the Waste Retriever™, simply fold both hoops up toward the handle.
