Comfort Care Pillow

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 40-50 million surgeries are performed each year in the United States.  After surgery the pain and discomfort makes moving a daunting prospect.  The movement could aggravate the surgery site causing more pain and potentially tear the stitches leading to complications and possible additional surgery to correct the problem.

We are often given a simple pillow and told to hold on tight.  What about when you are going home?  Seatbelts can lead to pressure on surgical sites that can cause more discomfort and possibly injuries. Getting in and out of the car can be a painful task.  What about when you get home and want to get up and move around?  What if you need your hands free?  What if you need ice packs, drains, or any other medical equipment to aid you?  Where do you put it?  If you need consistent pressure on the surgical site, a simple pillow may not be able to provide what you need, increasing the risk of reopening the wound.

What if you need to cough or sneeze?

There are many options available to help ease our way but most are no better than that simple pillow and don’t really provide the comfort and support you need while allowing you to use your hands to walk with a cane, hold on to a support bar, or just carry a glass of water.

The Comfort Care Pillow is the solution.

PRODUCT DETAILS

The Comfort Care Pillow is designed to protect post-surgical incisions, drains, wounds and dressings while the patient is moving or riding in a vehicle.  The pillow provides comfort and protection while easing anxiety levels when wearing a seatbelt properly by absorbing some of the pressure so it does not rub into the surgical sites.  The belt pressure could potentially be harmful and alter the surgical sites during sudden stops or collisions.  It is designed with a lower portion that covers the lower abdomen or upper legs and bends with the patient, providing comfort and protection.

The Comfort Care Pillow is comprised of an upper and lower high density cushion within a nylon stain resistant fabric.  The lower cushion is designed to pivot or bend while the patient is in a seated position.

An elastic belt binder provides additional support and protection by allowing a patient to cough, sneeze, or to bear down.  This helps to reinforce or splint the incisions together so they do not reopen.

The Comfort Care Pillow can be constructed with or without pockets of various sizes, and in various positions, to hold needed medical equipment such as vacuum pumps, drains, other medical devices, and ice packs to help reduce swelling and bleeding.

After surgery it is difficult to anticipate how painful riding in a car or just doing everyday activities will be.  Knowing there is a product available to ease the discomfort, can allow the patient to plan better for their recovery.

The function and therapeutic use of the Comfort Care Pillow provides protection, cushion, comfort, and a cooling device with the use of ice packs. It can be used for follow up visits and for other surgeries. The Comfort Care Pillow can be used for temporary or extended support and protection.
